What Is an AOV Solar Camera?
AOV stands for Always-On Video. An AOV solar camera is a next-generation solar-powered surveillance camera capable of round-the-clock video recording. In contrast to conventional solar cameras, it eliminates the use of PIR motion detection. It maintains a constant active state and captures footage continuously, so no important event goes unrecorded. Leveraging cutting-edge low-power technology and an integrated solar power system, the AOV camera enables full-time video recording while being sustainably powered by solar energy.

Traditional PIR Solar Camera
Uses a PIR sensor to detect motion
Starts recording only when motion is detected
May miss events if motion is too fast, too far, or blocked
Lower power consumption, but limited coverage

AOV Solar Camera
No PIR sensor required
Records video continuously, 24/7
Captures full events from start to finish
Provides more reliable and complete security monitoring

Low Frame Rate Recording is a core technology applied in AOV Solar Cameras, designed to support 24/7 non-stop video recording with ultra-low power consumption. Rather than recording at a high frame rate continuously, the camera captures a lower number of frames per second in regular monitoring mode. This greatly reduces power usage, enabling stable and long-lasting operation purely powered by solar energy.
Even with a lower frame rate, the footage remains clear and complete when motion or important events are detected, ensuring every key moment is fully recorded and easy to review. By achieving an optimal balance between video continuity and energy efficiency, low frame rate recording allows AOV Solar Cameras to work continuously without the need for wired power supply.

Long Detection Range up to 30 Meters
The AOV Solar Camera is equipped with an advanced intelligent video detection system, supporting an ultra-long detection range of up to 30 meters. Unlike conventional PIR cameras, whose performance is restricted by sensor sensitivity and external environmental factors, the AOV camera directly analyses video streams to identify moving objects with greater accuracy and over longer distances.
Traditional PIR solar cameras usually only offer a detection range of 10 to 12 meters due to inherent limitations of PIR sensors. Such a short range often leads to missed events outside the close monitoring area.
With nearly three times the detection distance, the AOV Solar Camera effectively minimizes blind spots and provides more stable, comprehensive security protection for large spaces and remote locations.
